All pedigree dogs have a standard the BBS is no different. The standard encompasses the utlization of the dog the character of the dog and the physice of the dog The standard of health would appear to be left to the kennel.

Health Wise we have set some of the highest standards possible, we are the only breeder in spain to have official FCI xrays on our dogs both hip and elbow all our dogs are MDR1 tested and DNA tested.

For us to follow the standard means we have to combine health, charecter utilization and physice not all dogs are a perfect match. Any fool can throw two dogs togeter, but when we do it it is for a reason, to try and hit that standard.

We have a consistancy we are very proud of but for us breeding is more than a white ball of fluff. It is very dificult to combine all 4 criteria into one dog and whilst the physic and utilization is relitivly easy to develope the health and character are another matter within the breed And is the reason we have moved to Spain.

Unfortunatly within the dog world the advances with modern technichs and methods has not taken hold as it has within the horse or farming world. We are very much still in the 19th century. The clubs are still using technics developed 40 years ago when it comes to measuring character and health.

An example would be the DNA research carried out hère in Spain at présent only two kennels have participated from the whole of europe all the major clubs are aware of DNA testing as is the BBI and FSBBI. It would appear kennels would rather hide thier health issues than solve them. This is what makes breeding such a challange`.

Another major challange is the bbs is split into two main groups those that want the bbs to be a white version of a german Shepherd and those that want a seperate breed It would appear thier is loophole in the FCI régulations and a number of german shepherds have been imported from the US and reregistered hère as bbs this is not something we hold to .

Two different dogs with two very different characters the true bbs is a softer dog and we believe the reason this is being done is to harden the dog Not neccesary in our opinion The berger blanc is extremly intelligent and we feel is more proactive than reactive in character and it is this side of the character we aim to develope with the help of V. Coll ( kennel La Gebrada ).

The bbs is a big dog it is also a group one dog (working) this means it is an active dog. We advise any family to do some sort of sport or discipline with thier dog. It is a highly intelligent dog and we find a sport or discipline that challanges the mind extremly benificiale Agility scent training or obidiance training, etc.

A number of kennels believe sch or ring discipline proves a good character we do not share this philosophy we dont believe a strong bite equals a strong charecter there is a place for it and that is protection xwork, police work etc but not in the family home we firmly believe considering the intelligence of the dog that it is proactive rather than reactive in nature pas au attente d'une famille.

We try to use 21st century methods for 21st century family living and the reason we do a puppy test is that a growing number of experts believe that 80% of a puppies character is determind by the enviroment and only 20% from the parents. It is this enviroment we are trying to improve all the time.

Our puppy development program has been devised by Victoria Coll kennel La Gebrada expert comportmentalitist and now we are living in Spain we shall continue that development as the dogs get older Since v became involved with our dogs we have noticed a tremendous development in thier character and each génération is better than the last and it is through this progrem that a Trebons dog is the only berger blanc in the world to achieve double FCI championship in scent tracking and obidiance.

The reason we go to show and would ask anyone with a Trebons dog to do so is to have our work and interprétions of the standard asesed by an independent judge To date we have done reasonable well but its on going project.
